The Healing Power of  Therapy

We spend so much of our lives longing for something different—seeking fulfillment in relationships, careers, or material success—only to find that true contentment comes from within. When we strip everything else away, what remains are our relationships: the ones we cultivate with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.

Early wounds and traumas create fractures in our psyche and our minds, in their brilliance, build defenses to protect us. Just as a broken bone requires a cast to heal properly, our emotional wounds often need external support. Therapy is that cast—it provides the stability and safety necessary for healing to unfold naturally. Over time, we begin to see how our protective patterns, once essential for survival, may now be limiting our ability to truly live.

Modern neuroscience shows us that the brain has an incredible capacity for change. Through neuroplasticity, we can reshape the way we experience ourselves and the world. By engaging in therapy, we create the conditions for new patterns of thought and behavior to emerge, fostering greater emotional flexibility and well-being. Healing is not about becoming someone new—it’s about returning to the essence of who you are. When we create a foundation of self-acceptance and compassion, radical transformation becomes possible.

Therapy is not just about surviving; it’s about thriving. It’s about waking up to the life you already have and choosing, every day, to live it with intention, love, and lead with your heart.

Whether or not we work together, I honor your courage in seeking support. May your journey lead you to the connection, healing, and joy you are seeking.

With care, Abigail

About Me

My name is Abigail Rooney

I’m Abigail, a holistic, heart-centered psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate the landscapes of their inner and outer worlds. My work is steeped in compassion-based mindfulness practices, delivered with a warm and direct approach. I integrate the wisdom of psychology, mysticism, interconnection, and modern neuroscience to support meaningful transformation.

My path to healing and therapy was profoundly shaped by witnessing my mother’s journey. Diagnosed with multiple, lifelong autoimmune diseases, I watched her defy those expectations and heal through alternative methods. This experience radically shifted my understanding of wellness and changed the way I relate to my mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I believe that true healing happens when we embrace our whole selves—with tenderness, curiosity, and courage.

I earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies with an emphasis in Integrative Counseling.

My approach is informed by my background in mindfulness, relational therapy, eco-therapy, herbalism and neuroscience, all of which guide my work in supporting people on their unique journeys toward self-awareness and connection.

What is Heart Centered
Psychotherapy?

Heart centered psychotherapy is a revolution of love. A Revolution of Love by definition is: Using love as a powerful force to radically change the existing systems or societal structures, often by actively promoting compassion, justice, and equality, essentially fighting against oppression and justice through the radical act of loving and supporting others, even those who might be considered "enemies" or different; its about creating positive change through the power of love rather than violence or aggression.

My Approach

It’s been said that “the longest journey you’ll ever take is the 18 inches from your head to your heart”. In my work, I invite clients to make this journey with intention, integrating the wisdom of the mind with the intelligence of the heart.

Many of us move through life with unconscious patterns that once served as necessary survival strategies but now hold us back from the lives and relationships we truly desire. Through therapy, we begin to soften these defenses—not by force, but by offering them safety and understanding. Healing happens in the presence of compassion and connection, allowing us to shift old wounds into new ways of relating to ourselves and others.

My work weaves together modern neuroscience with ancient wisdom, recognizing that our nervous systems hold the imprints of our past experiences. By understanding the brain’s plasticity and ability to rewire itself, we can cultivate new neural pathways that support resilience, emotional regulation, and deeper connection. In our work together, I provide a supportive space to explore your inner landscape, helping you move beyond fear, self-doubt, and disconnection.

My approach is relational, intuitive, and deeply attuned to the interconnectedness of mind, body, heart and soul. Therapy is not just about reducing suffering; it’s about expanding your capacity to experience life with authenticity, presence, and love.

Services

Individual

Individual therapy is an invitation to step into a deeper relationship with yourself. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, dating/intimacy struggles, life transitions, or past trauma, our work together is centered on helping you cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and a sense of inner peace. By integrating modern neuroscience with body wisdom, we explore how your past experiences have been impacting you and how to reshape these patterns that no longer serve you. This is a space for self-discovery, healing, and growth—a place where you can reclaim your authenticity and move through life with greater ease and confidence.

Couples

Relationships are one of the most profound places of healing and growth, yet they can also be a source of deep pain and misunderstanding. In couples therapy, we work to repair disconnection, foster understanding, and build new ways of relating that prioritize honesty, compassion, and emotional safety. Drawing on attachment theory, neuroscience, and relational psychology, I help couples move from cycles of conflict and disconnection to patterns of connection and intimacy. Whether you are struggling with communication, trust, or a major life transition, therapy can be a powerful container for rebuilding and strengthening your relationship.

Psychedelic Integration

Mystical experiences—whether through psychedelics, meditation, or spontaneous awakening—can be profoundly transformative, offering deep insights into the nature of self, relationships, and existence. But the real work begins after the journey. Integration is the process of weaving these insights into daily life in a way that fosters lasting growth, healing, and alignment.

In our work together, I offer a grounded and compassionate space to help you make sense of your experience, navigate any challenges that arise, and translate your newfound awareness into tangible change. Whether you're seeking clarity, emotional processing, or support in embodying your transformation, this space is here for you.

Eco-Therapy & Retreats

Nature has an unparalleled ability to heal and restore. Eco-therapy integrates the natural world into the therapeutic process, recognizing that our connection to the earth is deeply tied to our emotional and psychological well-being. Whether through mindful walks, nature-based reflection, or immersive retreats, this approach offers a way to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.

I plan to offer retreats that combine psychotherapy, herbalism, mindfulness, and eco-therapy practices in a supportive, restorative environment. If you’re interested in future retreat offerings or want to explore how eco-therapy can support your healing journey, I invite you to reach out and inquire about upcoming opportunities.

With these services, my hope is to provide a space where individuals, couples, and families can find healing, connection, and transformation. If any of these offerings resonate with you, I welcome you to reach out and begin your journey.
